i have seen numerous posts in his forum about finances, real estate, phone cards, exchange rates,courier services and even jokes.....whats wrong with asking a fellow desi's opinion on indian channels under interesting topics??we live in an area mostly populated by americans and do not have any desi people around. i thought this was a good forum to take opinion of fellow desis. if you think it is against the forum rules, you can take this off.

Buddy! I am not too sure about that. But according to my understanding security check is an optional thing depending on the job profile but this PIMS is for everyone. I am not too sure how long is the delay because of PIMS in Toronto. But ppl in India have waited on an average for 2 weeks. Again, some of them got their visa right away also. So, you may wanna call consulate and ask them if you are stuck coz of PIMS or also for additional security checks.
But in the end, I can say..dont worry! hang on there...you are not alone in this.

I'm just wondering if there is a sadist there, who just want to see how much these guys can take.
What other reason could there be fore waiting until July2nd before announcing it. Atleast June 29th and they could have said after reviewing the full data for June we changed our mind. This smacks of being pre planned. I won't be surprised if the did this to sneak in a few cases with very recent priority dates, and just put July 1st approval dates on all those.
Why else they pick the slowest processing center NSC for 485 applications. A lot of this is so much crap it makes a cesspit seem clean.
They ought to be ashamed of what they did. Seems intentional to me however.

I was also at 10 and few weeks back went and changed to 12. As Tony pointed out I have been wondering about the liquidity issue if at all we were to withdraw early. They take off 30% (20 tax + 10% early termination fee). I do have a bit of company match but will not be enough to cover the 30% loss. I am thinking of cutting back to 5%.
The problem with accounts in India is the requirement to declare it here. Anyway have to quickly call them and get it back to just enough to get the employer match up to the max.

My opinion:
Well, can the Java Programmer walk the ramp and pull it off like a professional model? Their work is a lot harder than it appears on the outside taking into account the success rate among models. Considering that even school kids can write excellent java programs, if we still want to consider the Java programmer as "highly skilled", then so are models.
Giselle Bundchen is worth half a billion dollars or somewhere in that range.
Btw, I am in the programming line myself in case someone thinks I have a problem with programmers. But I wouldn't mind swapping places with a successful model ;)

The officer is incorrect. The H-1B visa stamp only allows for reentry into the U.S. from abroad, it does not control your status. You can either go back and explain that the I-94 card attached to the approval notice isn't the most recent, and therefore isn't your current expiration or follow one of the other options presented above.

Costco is the best place to get photoes.They took our photos and rest of my colleagues photos upto the standards.Anywhere should be ok.Just mention them that ur facial features look clear and good.I showed the photos for visa application which i took in india as sample to them.Those were clear .So they followed the standards.

If you get married to him you shouldn't have any issue. After you get married you should have him file an immigrant petition (I-130) along with the adjustment of status (I-485). You will also have to file a biographic information sheet (G-325) along with an affidavit of support (I-864) and medical examination (I-693). You can also file for employment authorization (EAD), form I-765 if you want to work and Advance parole (I-131) if you need to travel outside the US. Supporting documents such as birth certificates, marriage certificate and photos will be required.
All these forms are available at the USCIS website.
They will ask you to come for fingerprining at a biometric center in a few weeks.
After a few months, you will be called for an interview to determine if your marriage is bonafide. If successful, you will be given what's called a conditional residency. 90 days before the two year anniversary of your conditional residency, you and your husband have to jointly apply for removal of conditions (form I-751), upon which you will be granted full permanent residency. After the third year, if you're still married, you can apply for US Citizenship.
